Itinerary*

Day 1

Arrive and meet your fellow group members, tour leader and football specialist at the hotel in Turin.  We waste no time to explore the city of Turin as John Foot takes us on a guided city walk.  We will then enjoy an Italian dinner, the perfect way to get to know your fellow Aficionados.  No worries about talking too much football with us!!!

Day 2

After breakfast your Calcio specialist will preview the game ahead on our first match day. We will then head by coach to Superga to pay homage to the Grande Torino team that tragically lost their lives in the airplane accident on their return from Benfica in 1949. After paying our respects to the team captained by Valentino Mazzola we will take the opportunity to visit the 18th century Royal Basilica and appreciate the spectacular elevated views of Turin and the Swiss Alps. We will visit the Museo Del Grande Torino for a guided tour to discover more about this legendary team. The extent of information and artifacts on display such as a section of the original wooden stand from Stadio Filadelfi and the propellors of the FIAT G-212 aircraft that crashed at Superga will ensure no visitor ever forgets the triumph and tragedy of Grande Torino. In the afternoon we will make our way to our first Calcio match of our trip which should be Pro Vercelli 1892 at the Stadio Silvio Piola who in their heyday won seven Italian Football Championships.

Day 3

Relive the highlights of yesterday over breakfast with your fellow Aficionados. Whilst the highlight of the day will be watching II Toro we will visit the home of their arch rivals, 36 time Scudetto winners Juventus. We will explore the fascinating Juventus museum and their unrivalled trophy room. After lunch we will take a quick trip to the redeveloped former home of Torino, the famous Stadio Filadelfi where the Grand Torino team won five consecutive Serie A tiles and were unbeaten at home for four seasons. It will then be time to enter the Stadio Olimpico and take our seats for the Torino match.

Day 4

Recap on your trip highlights with your new friends over breakfast.  Exchange contact details to stay in touch before making your way home.

*This is the intended itinerary and may change as it is subject to the finalisation of the fixtures around three weeks before the trip.  The content of the itinerary should not change however the running order could.

Tips Whilst tipping isn’t embedded into Italian culture it is always appreciated as an acknowledgement of good service. Nowadays people generally round up a bill in a bar or cafe and leave 5-10% extra on a restaurant bill. Taxi bills are usually also rounded up.  On guided tours/excursions, it is customary to leave a token of appreciation for the driver and guide.  On small group escorted tours, it is customary to leave a token of appreciation for the driver and guide at the end of the tour.
